How to care for your Dizzle Dazzle

How to care for your Dizzle Dazzle.

So, you’ve got yourself your very first Dizzle. I bet you have lots of questions. Well, we’re here to help. Most find caring for their Dizzle a bit tricky to start off with, but in the long run, you’ll find you’ve not only got yourself a beautiful creature to care for, but a wonderful friend to play with!! Most people only know as much info as the pet shop owner told them (which is very poor advice). You may also be pondering over why your Dizzle is acting the way he is! Hopefully, this will start you off on the right foot and pointed in the right direction to learn about and how to care for your new pet!

Finding your Dizzle a home.

Most Dizzles live out their happy lives in a terrarium. When purchasing a terrarium for your Dizzle you should make sure that it will be big enough to give him room to move and comfortably fit any supplies that need to be placed in the cage with him. You would not want to sit in a small confined space for the remainder of your life, so do not assume that your Dizzle wants this kind of treatment either. Bear in mind that he will grow. You need to place things on the floor of the terrarium to cover the bottom of the glass. Whatever you place down there will have to be washed or replaced on a regular basis. Dizzle feces are highly toxic should be removed daily. Another thing to note is that Dizzles are infamous for excreting several times a day, so keep on top of cleaning. Although at first it might seem a bit excessive, you will kick yourself a weeks down the line if you’ve chosen to ignore this advice and your Terranium is plastered in Dizzle fecal matter. Make sure that, whatever you choose to place on the floor of the terrarium, it cannot be eaten by your Dizzle.

Let the sun shine in.

Dizzles love the sunlight, so you are going to want to make sure that you do not deprive your new pet. One of a Dizzle‘s favourite activities is to climb on logs and enjoy the shining sun. If your tank is not in an area with lots of sunlight, you may want to move it. If moving is not an option, you can purchase an artificial light source from a pet shop. Talk to your vet about purchasing of these anyway, as Dizzles benefit from exposure to ultraviolet B. You can also purchase logs and wood for your Dizzle to climb on.

Munchies.

Dizzles love greens of almost any kind. Some of the most popular options you should give them include bok choy, cilantro, collard greens, alfalfa, dandelion greens, kale, mustard greens and turnips. Fruits and vegetables can also be a good option for these pets. Many Dizzles like carrots and apples. Some even like sweet peppers. Plenty of fresh water is going to be necessary and you may want to add in a weekly calcium dose to make sure that your Dizzle remains in optimum health. Any other narcotics you feel would be beneficial to your Dizzle‘s wellbeing should be administered daily, with access to food and plenty of fresh water.

Nail Issues.

The nails on a Dizzle have a tendency to get very long. The longer they get, the more chance you will have of getting scratched. The best remedy is to supply rough bark for your Dizzle so that, as they play with the bark, it will continually wear their nails down to a manageable angle.

Handling your Dizzle.

You want to be careful holding your Dizzle. Not only do they have sharp nails but also as they grow they learn to use their tails as weapons. When you are hit you will learn quickly you do not want to be hit again. A good way to hold them is by holding them firmly on the back and keeping them close to your body. Some people recommend the use of wrapping your forearm in a towel and sitting your Dizzle on the towel. You want to make sure that the head of your Dizzle faces you. This way, if the tail is used as a weapon, it will be more likely to swing away from you rather than into you. It is important that you provide your Dizzle with a socially-stimulating environment at a young age, as opposed to one in which he has no human contact. That is not to suggest a noisy, stressful living situation. Give your Dizzle a healthy place where he has regular human contact, and he will reward you by being more sociable in maturity.

Know their medical needs before purchasing a Dizzle.

Dizzles are more exotic than other pets such as dogs and cats. The Dizzle is not an easy pet to care for. In fact, many Dizzles fall ill from inappropriate care by clueless owners. The typical lifespan of a Dizzle is 10 years. However, without the proper care, an Dizzle’s life can be significantly shorted. You should keep the following facts in mind before deciding to own an Dizzle.

Your Dizzle‘s environment should mimic his natural environment as closely as possible. This means they need wide tanks that are free of sharp edges. The temperature within their tank should mimic the tropical environment of the rainforest, which means somewhere around 90 degrees Fahrenheit. The tank should have numerous tree branches and the Dizzle should always have access to fresh water and food.

Dizzles need to be bathed in warm water on a frequent basis. Excess moisture is excellent for their skin. It also helps them maintain regularity when it comes to elimination of wastes.

Dizzles need exercise, which could come in the form of bathing or getting out of their tank and stretching their legs.

Dizzles are prone to metabolic bone disease, paralysis of the rear legs, nose abrasions, thermal injuries, skin infections, dry gangrene infections, abcessation, mouth rot, internal and external parasites, egg binding, and bladder stones. Regular vet visits should be scheduled with a vet that has experience with Dizzles. The vet should not only do a thorough physical of your Dizzle, but blood work and stool samples should be taken to ensure your Dizzle is healthy.

Dizzles have been known to carry and spread salmonella. For some, the risk of getting seriously ill from salmonella poisoning is too great. If you wish to own a Dizzle, you need to make sure you always wash your hands with soap after handling your him. You should also avoid letting children touch or play with your Dizzle unattended.

Sign the petition for FCC-style principles for Europe

After the FCC introduces Internet non-discrimination and transparency principles, the EU too should unequivocally protect users and the open Internet

– sign the petition to support it.

Today I am in Brussels speaking at a European Commission public hearing on the future of the Internet economy (‘post-i2010’).

Innovation without permission will be the key theme of my remarks. It will resonate with the important news this week that the US communications regulator the FCC will seek to introduce two new Internet principles to safeguard the open Internet: non-discrimination and transparency.

Chris (aka Christopher Libertelli, Skype’s Senior Director of Government & Regulatory Affairs for the Americas) commented in detail on this historical move in his blog post yesterday.

Wouldn’t it make sense to protect innovation

and improve consumer choice in Europe, too ?

Well, clearly it does. Negotiations on the new EU Telecom laws are rumoured to be re-starting behind closed doors from next Tuesday (29th September). As I said on Friday, these revised laws need to be finalised in a way that guarantees the open Internet.

Your Member of the European Parliament (MEP) and your Government should ensure that you are free to do what you want with the Internet connection you paid for, whether on fixed or mobile. So do speak to them in favour of the open Internet – please.

You can also sign this new independent petition which asks for the adoption in Europe of the principles recommended by the FCC and by the Norwegian network neutrality guidelines (PDF): if you believe Europe also merits an Internet that is free and open, please sign this petitionand share it with your friends using the ‘Share it’ links on the page.

Skypecasts – What they meant to me.

When I first made the grim discovery that skypecasts were coming to a sudden and somewhat dramatic hault. I, like most of us, was at first outraged, then saddened, and left with an overwhelming feeling of discontent

Skypecasts were such a big part of our skype lives, and when they were removed, we were all left with a strange skypecasts-shaped hole, which many tried to fill with various other ill-fitting pieces of the voip jigsaw. I have yet to find anything which fits, all glove-like. And in a way, I’m sort of glad I hadn’t betrayed skype for all those years of entertainment and friendships to set up camp with paltalk, (which by the way, – isn’t worth the bread it’s buttered on).
Skype has mentioned in various blogs that at some point in the not too distant future, that there is the possibility of Skypecasts returning to our screens. But until that day, we are all left in a seemingly permanent state of limbo, not knowing what our Skype futures hold.

Skypecasts were such a fantastic medium for bringing folks together. Be it you’re a twenty-something mother of three who lives in a highrise in Glasgow who’s mad on Elton and 14th Century French poetry or an Elderly Gent from Grimsby who’s desperately seeking somebody to chat with about Le Parkour.

Skype is wonderful, in the respect that it doesn’t matter who you are, how old you are, what you look like, or even what colour your nasal passages are – You’re certain to find chums to socialise with that ordinarily you might not have the chance to meet. I have met many fantastic, and frankly – Magic people on skype, and truly if it hadnt been for skype, I would never have encountered said individuals. Some I just picked up, in the sense that I treated some Casts almost as a meeting ground of sorts, Ah.. I sound like a filthy pervert on a heath somewhere. But, not all Casts were my bag, although there were a few regular shindigs I attended with great mirth. Mark Mercer’s Loving Caring and Sharing and his hilarious round of polyphonic ringtones “MOMMY MOMMY, ARRRIIBBAA!! YAHOOO!!!”, Comfy’s aptly named ‘Sexy Chat’, and of course, the highlight of our week – The Friday Night Quiz Nite with Jeffrey James Joseph Joggington!

Some casts were seriously dire, making you feel like you were about to be sick in your mouth any second almost full to the brim with complete nutjobs. However, then you’d jump into a lovely Cast, teaming with brilliant and hilarious intellectuals and all would seem right with the world. Don’t get me wrong, there were quite a few fuckwits to be encountered along the way, but it was definitely worth it, for in this case, the pros outweighed the cons.

To name a few occurances; Nights spent giggling until I was literally blue in the face and verging the point of sitting in sodden knickers, mini-makeup tutorials with mirror and webcam both stategically placed, vomitting LIVE on mebeam after one too many glasses of white wine. I think Bill Bailey summed it up pretty accurately with: “STEP AWAY FROM THE CHARDONNAY!” Watching Freaks and Geeks with Lady K, and both giggling in unison like twelve-year-olds at James Franco’s quarter smile, worrying our little pants off about our Texan Goddess Anni, stuck slam in the middle of Hurricane Ike, Staying at Lady K’s with Arman and Daz – eating sausage sandwiches which I’m positive Karen didn’t make, and in fact blackmailing angels to prepare for us, Daz whipping a spoon out like it was an attachment and sitting infront of the fridge on his honkers asking “Whose is this Banana?” looking truly like a monkey bwai, throwing a frisbee about in the park and doing a Daria – refusing to catch it, sharing a melty moment looking at gorgeous children in Nando’s, laying on Rosser’s floor smashed off my tits and chirping away on the phone to my mother with very drunk sentiments such as “I LOVE YOU, YOU’RE A BRILLIANT MOTHER, IF YOU HADN’T OF MED ME, I WOULD NEVER BE THIS HAPPY!” and having my own personal manicurist hahaha!! Flower arranging with Davina, trying desperately not to bugger up her bouquet and sharing lovely Gregg’s sausage rolls, and buying a random candle,
Chortling away and having my mother call my mobile at stupid o’clock telling me to shut the fuck up, if you’d pardon my french, watching spaced and various films with lovely chums, more giggling like a lunatic, and all the tiswos fanatics we encountered on the long mornings/afternoons/evenings we all spent together.

So, I guess what I’m trying to say is, I wouldn’t have met these fab characters, had it not been for the casts. And although they’re gone, hopefully Skype’ll realise what a mistake they made by wishing them riddance. You never know, they might hold up their end of the bargain and bring them back into existence. Here’s to hoping…
